* Suplication for Shelter.
My Rabb!I am indeed needy of whatever good You may send to me.
(28:24)
History and Significance
Prophet Musa (pbh) was traveling to the desert of Madyan and he found some men were watering their animals and two women were standing helpless. Musa (pbh) helped these women with water, and then returned to a shade of a tree. At this time, he made this supplication with a reference to the shade of the tree as whatever good thing. Allah responded to this supplication. As a result, one of these women came to him and with an invitation from her old father. The old man was kind to Musa, offered him shelter and gave one of the two daughters in marriage to Musa.

* Muharram Special
[02-154].
Muharram is the first month of Islamic Calender. Messenger Muhammad (saw) used to fast in this month. Also, many events unfolded after the death of Messenger Muhammad (saw). Muharram is one of four months that have been designated as holy according to the Islamic calendar, the other three being - Dhul-Qa'adah, Dhul-Hijjah and Rajab.
Fasting in the month of Muharram:
Fasting is advocated in the month of Muharram. The Prophet is believed to have said: "The best fasts after the fasts of Ramadan are those of the month of Muharram." Although the fasts of the month of Muharram are not obligatory, yet one who fasts in these days out of his own will is entitled to a great reward by Allah Almighty. Fasting on the tenth day of Muharram, called Ashura, is particularly important, as it supposed to lead to great rewards. A person does not have to fast for the whole month. On the contrary, each fast during this month has merit.
Here are some activities that are recommended for the day of Ashurah:
- To observe fast on this day.
- To give as much charity as you can afford.
- To perform Nafl Salat prayers.
- To recite Surah Ikhlas 1000 times.
- To visit and be in the company of pious Ulema.
- To place a hand of affection on an orphan's head.
- To give generously to one's relatives. .
- To put surma in one's eyes.
- To take a bath.
- To cut one's nails.
- To visit the sick.
- To establish friendly ties with one's enemies.
- To recite Dua-e- Ashurah
- To visit the shrines of Awliyas and the graves of Muslims.
Muharram- an auspicious time:
The month of Muharram is also associated with many auspicious events in Islamic history. Allah is supposed to have created the heavens and the earth on this blessed day. On this day He give His infinite blessings and bounties to many of His Prophets and delivered them from the clutches of their enemies.
Allah created Hazrat Adam in this month and pardoned him of his mistake. Hazrat Noah's Ark landed successfully on Mount Judi during this time centuries ago. God is also said to have saved Hazrat Ibrahim from fire and rescued Hazrat Musa from the Pharaoh during the month of Muharram.
You must be wondering what there is to mourn about then? The tenth day of Muharram or Ashura is of supreme importance for Shia Muslims as they celebrate the death anniversary of Hussain, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad.

* Hadith on Friday Prayer
According to Shahi Bukhari
Volumn 002, Book 013, Hadith Number 005.
Narated By Abu Said : I testify that Allah's Apostle said, "The taking of a bath on Friday is compulsory for every male Muslim who has attained the age of puberty and (also) the cleaning of his teeth with Siwak, and the using of perfume if it is available." Amr (a sub-narrator) said, "
I confirm that the taking of a bath is compulsory, but as for the Siwak and the using of perfume, Allah knows better whether it is obligatory or not, but according to the Hadith it is as above.")
Volumn 002, Book 013, Hadith Number 006.
Narated By Abu Huraira : Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) said,
"Any person who takes a bath on Friday like the bath of Janaba and then goes for the prayer (in the first hour i.e. early), it is as if he had sacrificed a camel (in Allah's cause); and whoever goes in the second hour it is as if he had sacrificed a cow; and whoever goes in the third hour, then it is as if he had sacrificed a horned ram; and if one goes in the fourth hour, then it is as if he had sacrificed a hen; and whoever goes in the fifth hour then it is as if he had offered an egg. When the Imam comes out (i.e. starts delivering the Khutba), the angels present themselves to listen to the Khutba.
* Hadith Qudsi 9
The fist of his actions for which a servant of Allah will be held accountable on the Day of Resurrection will be his prayers. If they are in order, then he will have prospered and succeeded: and if they are wanting, then he will have failed and lost. If there is something defective in his obligatory prayers, the Lord (glorified and exalted be He) will say:
See if My servant has any supererogatory prayers with which may be completed that which was defective in his obligatory prayers. Then the rest of his actions will be judged in like fashion.

Da'wah
Da’wah is a duty
Most Muslims know that Islam is a universal religion, meant for all mankind.
Allah (swt) is the Lord of the entire Universe, and Muslims have been entrusted
with the duty of conveying His message to all mankind. Alas, most Muslims
today have become callous towards this duty! While accepting Islam as the best
way of life for ourselves, most of us are unwilling to share this knowledge with
those to whom the message has not yet been conveyed.
The Arabic word Da’wah means a call or an invitation. In Islamic context, it
means to strive for the propagation of Islam.
The Glorious Qur’an says:
“Ah! Who is more unjust than those who conceal the testimony they
have from Allah? But Allah is not unmindful of what ye do!”
[Al-Qur’an 2:140]
Twenty Most Common Questions
In order to convey the message of Islam, dialogue and debate become
inevitable. The Glorious Qur’an says:
“Invite (all) to the way of thy Lord, with wisdom and beautiful
preaching, and argue with them in ways that are best and most
gracious!”
[Al-Qur’an 16:125]
In conveying the message of Islam to a non-Muslim, it is usually not sufficient to
highlight only the positive nature of Islam. Most non-Muslims are not convinced
about the truth of Islam because there are a few questions about Islam at the
back of their minds that remain unanswered.
They may agree with your contentions about the positive nature of Islam. But,
in the same breath, they will say -
“Ah! But you are the same Muslims who
marry more than one woman. You are the same people who subjugate women
by keeping them behind the veil. You are fundamentalists, etc.”
I personally prefer asking the non-Muslims upfront, with their limited
knowledge, whether right or wrong, from whichever source it may be, what they
feel is wrong in Islam. I encourage them to be very frank and open and convince
them that I can take criticism about Islam.
In the past few years of my Da’wah experience, I have realized that there are
barely twenty most common questions that a common non-Muslim has
regarding Islam. Whenever you ask a non-Muslim, “what do you feel is wrong in
Islam?”, he poses five or six questions, and these questions invariably fall
among the twenty most common questions.

* Anger
“…who repress anger, and who pardon men; verily, Allaah loves Al-Muhsinoon (the good‑doers).”
[Aal ‘Imraan 3:134]
“And those who avoid the greater sins, and Al‑Fawaahish (illegal sexual intercourse), and when they are angry, they forgive.”
[al-Shooraa 42:37]
This is because when a person does not restrain his anger, he insults, curses, swears and hits. Anger may be a door to all kinds of evil. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) often advised people not to get angry.
Al-Bukhaari narrated in al-Saheeh (6116) from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that a man said to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him),
“Advise me.”
He said:
“Do not get angry.”
The man repeated his request several times, and he said,
“Do not get angry.”
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) regarded the one who controls himself when he is angry as being the strongest of men. Al-Bukhaari narrated in al-Saheeh (6114) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“The strong man is not the one who can wrestle (fight); the strong man is the one who controls himself at the time of anger.”
One of the scholars said:
Allaah created anger from fire, and made it an instinct in man. When there is a dispute, the flames of anger are fanned until a person’s face and eyes become red, because the skin reflects what is underneath it… Anger produces external and internal changes, such as a change in colour, trembling, uncontrolled actions and a change in appearance, such that if the angry person could see himself when he is angry, he would feel ashamed of his ugly appearance and they way his appearance has changed. All of that is what happens on the outside. The internal effects are even worse, because it generates hatred in the heart, envy (hasad) and all kinds of bad feelings. The most ugly effects of anger are the internal effects, and the external changes are the results of the internal changes. All of this has an effect on the body. The effect on the tongue is that it speaks words of slander and foul language which the wise person would feel ashamed of, and the angry person regrets them when he calms down.
The effects of anger can also be seen in people’s actions, when they beat and kill. If the angry person does not have the chance to do that, he turns his anger against himself, tearing his garments and slapping his cheeks; sometimes he may have a seizure, or fall unconscious, or break vessels, or hit someone who has not done anything wrong. Whoever thinks about these evil actions will realize just how much wisdom there is in these gentle words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), ‘Do not get angry,’ and to how great an extent they protect people’s interests by warding off this great evil which may otherwise lead who knows where. All of this has to do with anger for the sake of worldly things, not anger for the sake of religious matters… (Anger for the sake of Allaah is praiseworthy and recommended, such as anger when seeing evil actions). It helps a person not to get angry when he bears in mind what has been narrated concerning the virtues of restraining anger, and the warnings concerning the results of anger; he should also seek refuge with Allaah from the Shaytaan… and do wudoo’… And Allaah knows best.”
You must repent to Allaah for any curses and aggressive words that you have uttered.
You must keep your tongue busy with du’aa’ and dhikr (remembrance of Allaah), because that brings peace to the heart
. “… verily, in the remembrance of Allaah do hearts find rest”
[al-Ra’d 13:28 – interpretation of the meaning].
Keep away from using your tongue to hurt other people.
May Allaah bless our Prophet Muhammad.
