*Meeting people

  • Give Tasleem:

The messenger of Allah(sal) was asked:

"Which Islam is good (in terms of action)?"

He said: " To feed the people and to say Salaam to those who know and those you do not know."

  • Lengthen the greeting:

A man entered upon the Messenger of Allah (sal ) and said:

" Assalamu Alaikum"

The Messenger (sal) replied to the salaam. Then the man sat down and the Messenger (sal) said: "Ten".

Then another man came and said:

"Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullah"

The Messenger (sal) replied. Then the man sat down and the Messenger (sal) said:

"Twenty".

Then another man came and said:

"As-salaamu alaykum wa rahumatullahi wa barakaatuh"

The Messenger (sal) replied. Then the mansat down and the Messenger(sal) said:

"Thirty"

Look at how much reward a person inflicts himself by sufficing himself with saying only a part of the salutation. The person should say the entire salaam so that he he attains thirty good deeds.

  • Smile, as the Prophet (sal) said:

Do not consider any good things as insignificant-even if it is that you meet your brother with a cheerful face.

  • Shake hands,as prophet (sal)said:

There are two muslims who meet each other and shake hands, except that they are forgiven before they depart(from each other).

  • Say a Kalimah Tayyibah:

"Say to my slaves to say that which is better. Verily, Shaytaan incites to evil between them. Verily, Shytaan is for mankind a clear enemy"

The prophet(sal)said:

"Al Kalimah Tayyibah is charity"

Al Kalimah Tayyibah has a powerful affect on a person- it brings peace and tranquility ti a person's soul and puts serenity into his heart.

* Hadith on Friday Prayer

According to Shahi Bukhari

Volumn 002, Book 013, Hadith Number 005.

Narated By Abu Said : I testify that Allah's Apostle said, "The taking of a bath on Friday is compulsory for every male Muslim who has attained the age of puberty and (also) the cleaning of his teeth with Siwak, and the using of perfume if it is available." Amr (a sub-narrator) said, "

I confirm that the taking of a bath is compulsory, but as for the Siwak and the using of perfume, Allah knows better whether it is obligatory or not, but according to the Hadith it is as above.")

Volumn 002, Book 013, Hadith Number 006.

Narated By Abu Huraira : Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) said,

"Any person who takes a bath on Friday like the bath of Janaba and then goes for the prayer (in the first hour i.e. early), it is as if he had sacrificed a camel (in Allah's cause); and whoever goes in the second hour it is as if he had sacrificed a cow; and whoever goes in the third hour, then it is as if he had sacrificed a horned ram; and if one goes in the fourth hour, then it is as if he had sacrificed a hen; and whoever goes in the fifth hour then it is as if he had offered an egg. When the Imam comes out (i.e. starts delivering the Khutba), the angels present themselves to listen to the Khutba.

  • As for blush and rouge, "Modesty" (Haya') is one of the best brandsand it can be found in any of the Islamic centers.

* Fitnah

Allaah has created man in a world of trials and tests, and He has made Paradise the abode of His friends and beloved ones, who preferred His pleasure over their own and preferred obedience to Him over their physical comfort. And He has made Hell the abode of those among His slaves who disobey Him and preferred their own whims and desires to the pleasure of their Lord. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Such is the Paradise which We shall give as an inheritance to those of Our slaves who have been Al-Muttaqoon (the pious)”

[Maryam 19:63]

“But as for him who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained himself from impure evil desires and lusts.
Verily, Paradise will be his abode”

[al-Naaz’i’aat 79:40-41]

And He says concerning the people of Hell (interpretation of the meaning):

“Then, there has succeeded them a posterity who have given up As-Salaat (the prayers) [i.e. made their Salaat (prayers) to be lost, either by not offering them or by not offering them perfectly or by not offering them in their proper fixed times] and have followed lusts. So they will be thrown in Hell”

[Maryam 19:59]

And He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“That shall be their recompense, Hell; because they disbelieved and took My Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and My Messengers by way of jest and mockery”

[al-Kahf 18:106]

“Then for him who transgressed all bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and evil deeds of disobedience to Allaah).
And preferred the life of this world (by following his evil desires and lusts),
Verily, his abode will be Hell-fire”

[al-Naazi’aat 79:37-39]

So the Muslim must strive to worship Allaah and keep away from that which angers Allaah, for Allaah will not cause the reward the one who does good to be lost:

“As for those who strive hard in Us (Our Cause), We will surely guide them to Our paths (i.e. Allaah’s religion — Islamic Monotheism). And verily, Allaah is with the Muhsinoon (good-doers)”

[al-‘Ankaboot 29:69 – interpretation of the meaning]

One of the fitnahs (temptations) with which we are tested is the fitnah of women, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“I have not left behind me any fitnah (temptation) more harmful to men than women.”

There follow some of the methods by which we can avoid this temptation. We ask Allaah to set the affairs of the Muslims straight.

* Hijab for Men

People usually only discuss ‘hijab’ in the context of women.

However, in theGlorious Qur’an, Allah (swt) first mentions ‘hijab’ for men before ‘hijab’ for thewomen. The Qur’an mentions in Surah Noor:

“Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah iswell acquainted with all that they do.”

[Al-Qur’an 24:30]

The moment a man looks at a woman and if any brazen or unashamed thoughtcomes to his mind, he should lower his gaze.

* Going to a Masjid..

A Masjid goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to Mosque . "I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 Lectures. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the Imams are wasting theirs by giving Lectures at all."

This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher.

"I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this: They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to MASJID for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!"

When you are DOWN to nothing.... Allah is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank Allah for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!
